I am so fascinated by the M&M billboard which I see at the back of Megamall every morning on my way to work. “Yellow M&M” with a tough _expression and wearing a black costume stands beside Darth Vader. My enthrallment of billboards started during my 1st few visits to Thailand. I travel 30-45 minutes every morning to work. With the magnificent sky highways of Thailand that stretches about 20 to 30 kms, huge billboards hang left and right. Having such simple joy (in short, mababaw ang kaligayahan), I have taken a picture of my favorite billboard with my cellphone.
Three of My Favorite billboards are:
1) A 3-dimension Snorkling Scene, with a woman and a blue cartoon character with
snorkeling gear (very cute billboard!)
2) A series of True Together miniboards(a Telecom Services Company like our PLDT) billboards featuring the ff:
a. Mommy pig with 8 piglets
b. A close up of a new born baby with the faces of Mom & Dad
c. Backview of a thin small boy with a big healthy boy sited beside each other, facing a pool
d. A woman walking her dog
3) A simple billboard – showcasing FAMILY brand of VCD and DVD (what caught my attention is it spelled out FAMILY as Father And Mother, I Love You! Though I found it so corny at first, it hasn’t left my list of must-see billboards every morning!
Be it simple or grand, a billboard though just a marketing tool, appeals to people in different ways. Those billboards appeal to me and they make me smile.
