Last June 29 was the 36th wedding anniversary of my parents. As I was talking to my dad over the phone regarding what surprise she gave my mom, I could hear my mom laughing and teasing him about the flowers he just gathered from the garden. Then I asked my mom a funny question, "Do you always laugh together?". My mom said they have rekindled fun now that they are alone without us...their kids (who are all grown up).
I've seen an old couple holding hands at Bangkok airport who seem to have just gone from their nth honeymoon due to their sparkling eyes and smiles. On a Friday night at Galleria, I saw another old couple who sat beside me. One thing I noticed is that they are just happy sitting, talking while waiting for their children and grandchildren. Sobra akong naaliw sa kanila that I even took a picture of them.
What am I trying to drive at here...well, its high time we put premium to our families or future families. When we settle for the sake of settling and not waiting for the best that God has prepared for us, we might not age gracefully like my mom and like the two lolas I saw.
